At Hartley Dental we are very proud of our caring, professional and attentive team.

We go to great lengths to ensure that each team member is trained appropriately and to the highest standards, helping ensure an unsurpassed level of competence, expertise and care. The whole Hartley team are always striving to achieve the best level of training in the relevant fields. We hold regular training events, to help ensure we are fully up to speed with the latest changes and best practice within the industry.

Charlie Fox – Dental Surgeon

BDS(U.Birm), LDSRCS(Eng.) 1990 – GDC number: 65235

Charlie has been part of the Hartley team for well over 15 years and bought the practice himself in 2003. Charlie firmly believes in bespoke, health focussed and patient led care, with full information being available to patients at every stage of their journey with Hartley. Charlie really enjoys seeing our patients reach a great level of Oral Health, using some of the latest techniques, coupled with his own personal experience! In his spare time, Charlie enjoys getting out on his mountain bike and cycling for good causes, such as St. Lukes Hospice in Plymouth.

Edd Jones – Business Manager & Customer Care Champion

Non-clinical

Edd Jones joined us in July 2015 as our Business Manager.

Edd brings with him 10 years of experience from the private sector where he’s taken on various operational and management roles. In his role as business manager, Edd will oversee the operational side of the practice and its day to day running including finance management, HR management, recruitment, compliance and patient satisfaction surveys and analysis.

When he’s not busy ensuring the smooth running of the practice, Edd enjoys spending time with his daughter and playing as much sport as his body will allow, mainly rugby and football!

Dean Hunt – Hygienist

GDC number: 5894

Dean joined Hartley Dental in May 2014 after completing 23 years of service in the Royal Navy. Whilst in the Armed Forces Dean worked at various Dental Centres in the UK and abroad, providing dental hygiene to services personnel and their families. Dean also qualified as a dental nurse and dental hygienist tutor at the militaries’ Dental Training School in Aldershot.

Dean provides treatments and advice to prevent dental problems, he is particularly interested in the treatment of periodontal disease (gum disease) and takes great pleasure in improving his customers health and smile.

Laura Sharples – Lead Nurse

GDC number: 183326

Laura qualified as a Dental Nurse in 2008 and then, driven by her thirst for knowledge, went on to qualify as an Oral Health Educator in 2011. This has allowed Laura to work with many different patients and to provide great tips, advice and information on tooth health, diet and much more.

Laura joins Hartley Dental as our lead Dental Nurse. She will ensure that our high cross infection standards are not only met but continually improved and updated.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys the great outdoors, traveling and frequenting festivals.

Maleesa Swales– Dental Nurse

GDC number: 250569

Maleesa began her training back in February 2012 and has since, successfully completed the NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing. She is gradually migrated South and joined us in 2014 after moving to Plymouth from Lyme Regis in Dorset.

Maleesa is a fantastic addition to the team, she is extremely warm and friendly and particularly enjoys looking after nervous patients. In the future, Maleesa is looking forward to learning more about the ins and outs of orthodontics so that she can help to transform people’s smiles.

Janie Harrison – Dental Hygienist

Janie joins Hartley having completed 16 years in the Royal Navy, where she qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 2009. This enables Janie to bring a great variety of clinical experience to the Hartley Team and is also a fully qualified Dental Nurse.

Janie really enjoys giving preventative oral health advice and seeing the benefits that this brings to the patients. In her spare time, Janie enjoys spending time with her family and young son along with visiting the Cornish coast whenever possible to walk the beautiful coastal paths
