Regular Oral Health Checks

At Hartley Dental we like to prevent problems before they happen, this is why we feel it is important for you to attend regular oral health checks as often as your dentist recommends.

During the appointment the dentist will check the following:

  • General Health (Medical History)
  • Oral Cancer
  • Tooth wear & tear
  • Dental Cavities
  • Gum health
  • Bone Levels
  • Lymph nodes
  • Restorations
  • TMJ (Jaw Joint)
  • Saliva Function

It is important even if you don’t have any teeth to visit the dentist every 2 years, as they will check for oral cancer. Cancer research UK sites that the incidence of Oral Cancer in the UK population has increased by 92% since the late 1970s. The more regularly we see you the less likely you are to suffer from dental emergencies and additional treatment. We are here to help, prevent and educate.

Questions About Oral Health Checks

There are various types of general ongoing health checks/reviews at Hartley which we are pleased to offer our patients on a regular basis, depending on your individual level of Oral Health. No two people are the same!

For our Initial Health Assessment you should allow about one and a half hours. This includes time with our dentists and with the treatment co-ordinators making sure we have all your details and explaining any diagnosis or treatments you need clarification about.

  1. Healthy Mouth Review – 15 minutes
  2. Plaque control and prevention visit (Hygiene Appointment) – 30 minutes
  3. Extanded Plaque control and prevention visit (Hygiene Appointment) – 45 minutes
  4. Orthodontic Review (if you have a brace fitted) – 15 minutes
This always depends on your level of Oral Health. As a general rule Dr. Fox would advise that you see your Dentist AT LEAST once a year, coupled with regular visits to your Hygiene Team. With the totally bespoke service we champion, we make sure that we tailor our diagnosis and solution specifically to your needs. We have various monthly or annually payable plan offers (see below), which vary in price and frequency to ensure you maintain a really high level of Oral Health.
Anyone on one of our health plans has healthy mouth reviews and prevention visits included with their plan. For patients who are not part of our Oral Health plan programme (see below), the prices for our appointments are as follows:

  1. Healthy Mouth Review – £66
  2. Plaque control and prevention visit (Hygiene Appointment) 30 minutes – £80
  3. Extended plaque control and prevention visit (Hygiene Appointment) 45 minutes – £122
  4. Orthodontic Review – generally these are included in the overall price of the treatment
YES! When you join one of our Oral Health plans! Depending on your level of Oral Health and which plan you are recommended, you will get a number of dedicated Hygiene visits per year, coupled with regular healthy mouth reviews with our dentists – remember that we have a totally preventative approach at the centre of our Practice ethos, so we highly recommend these regular Hygiene visits to help prevent any disease occurring in your mouth.

“I would highly recommend Hartley Dental, in fact, I was so impressed that I made appointments for my husband and our children. Thanks again for a great service.”
