Hartley’s Guide to a Healthy Summer

Summer is (nearly) here again – along with all of those unhealthy habits that go along with it!

Don’t worry though this isn’t a lecture, you guys are grown ups and can make your own decisions! However…

The team did just want to share with you, some information that you might find useful – you can do with it what you will!

What are the Main Unhealthy Habits?

The two obvious ones are:

  1. Alcohol,
  2. Unhealthy foods.

Nothing wrong with that and we’d be lying if we said that we won’t be partaking in a cheeky alcoholic tipple or greasy burger this summer – we are all human after all! Plus, they taste nice right?!

A few tips though, from the team on how to reduce the impact of those nasty foods and drinks on your oral health:

  1. Chew sugar free gum after meals – this helps neutralise the acids in your mouth, therefore reducing any wear on your teeth,
  2. Remember to brush with flouride toothpaste for 2 minutes immediately before you go to bed and at one other time during the day – easily forgotten on those long lazy summer days!
  3. Don’t forget to use your interdental brushes and/or floss – again this is easily forgotten, but is pretty important when it comes to unclogging all those foods from your teeth,
  4. Remember to drink plenty of water – staying hydrated is important for your overall health too.

Last but not least is the most important thing – the top of the mountain – remember to keep up your visits to your Hygiene Team and Dentist.

We want you to be healthy and well looked after – but you have to come and sit in the chair for us to do that! Please keep those appointments, so we can keep you healthy!
