Simon is the Practice co-owner here at Hartley, who took the helm from Dr. Charlie Fox in April 2022, along with Edd.
Simon is a born and bred Devonian, having been born in North Devon, before moving to Plymouth some 13 years ago. He now lives within walking distance of the practice along with his wife, Katy and their three young children.
Simon qualified from Peninsula Dental School in Plymouth in the class of 2015 as a Batchelor of Dental Science (BDS). He has since gone on to complete an enhanced Diploma in Restorative Dentistry, also at Peninsula Dental School, which he completed in 2020.
This additional qualification gives Simon enhanced competency in ‘restorative’ dentistry enabling him to carry out all aspects of general dentistry to an exceptional level. Simon loves seeing the positive impact that his treatments can have on people’s lives by making them healthier and more proud of their smile. He has a keen eye for the aesthetic side of things and prides himself on delivering restorations that look natural and last.
During his spare time (if he gets any these days), Simon enjoys playing tennis, golf or watching his beloved Tottenham Hotspur FC. He also has an active leadership role within a local church as he is passionate about bringing life, love, and faith to the city of Plymouth.
Edd is the Practice co-owner here at Hartley, who took the helm from Dr. Charlie Fox in April 2022, along with Simon.
Edd has been with Hartley for 9 and a half years and takes care of all the ‘back of house’ tasks. He get’s all the REALLY fun jobs, like processing the salaries & wages, writing policies and ensuring we are constantly trying to improve the services we offer our patients.
Edd dedicates his time to making sure Hartley is always ‘one step ahead of the rest’ and is relentless in his search for the latests innnovations to help improve the experience our patients have when they visit the practice.
Edd has a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management, along with various team leading & customer service qualifications.
Dimple joined Hartley Dental in 2023 having worked in Exeter and previously London but has chosen to enjoy the great outdoors lifestyle and beautiful beaches that Devon has to offer.
After graduating from Kings College London in 2005, Dimple has worked in several well established London practices whilst gaining further qualifications and has attained both the MFDS (Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery) and Diploma in Restorative Dental Practice with distinction from the highly esteemed Eastman Dental Institute. Her expertise is in ‘minimally invasive’, ‘adhesive’ and aesthetic dentistry which means restoring teeth to their natural beauty and function in the least destructive manner possible, using the latest modern materials and bonding techniques to achieve this goal. Her years of experience and caring, approachable manner means she has also been involved in mentoring and training new dental graduates.
When not practicing dentistry, you are most likely to find her exploring Devon whether that’s wild camping in Dartmoor or hiking coastal trails or trying out all the various outdoor activities that Devon has to offer.
Aleks stands out as a highly accomplished dental professional, having attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery with honors from the esteemed Peninsula College of Medicine & Dentistry. Further enriching his academic journey, he earned a Master’s degree in Community Pharmacy from Jagiellonian University. Aleks’s commitment to dental education is evident through his tenure at Peninsula Dental School, where he served as a supervisor for final year students.
In pursuit of excellence, Aleks pursued additional training, earning a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) in dental Implantology and an MSc in Implant & Oral Surgery. His dedication to providing superior dental care is underscored by his philosophy of prioritizing prevention and the preservation of tooth tissue. Aleks’s expertise in minimally invasive, aesthetic dentistry has been recognized with numerous accolades throughout his career.
Continuously advancing his skills, Aleks dedicates a substantial amount of his personal time to ongoing education, participating in courses and programs across various countries including Italy, Norway, Spain, Poland, Australia and the UK. Notably, he has honed his proficiency in Digital Smile Design, Invisalign, and the Bioclear composite method, alongside completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Clear Aligner Therapy at City of London Dental School and an MSc in Implant & Oral Surgery at prestigious Unicamillus University in Rome.
Aleks’s commitment to professional growth extends to his involvement in the Clear Orthodontic International Program (COIP) in Spain, aligners and temporary anchorage device training with Dr. Susana Palma, and a two-year immersive training at Aligner Master in Portugal. He was an active member of the Dentinal Tubules study club and Spear Education, showcasing his dedication to staying at the forefront of dental advancements.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Aleks generously shares his expertise as part of an Aligner Consulting team, aiding dentists in Poland with treatment plans. In his leisure time, he finds solace in family moments, cherishing time with his loving wife and three children. An avid adventurer, Aleks enjoys sailing, as well as engaging mountaineering, and exploring new destinations.
Janie began her career as a dental nurse in the Royal Navy & qualified as a Hygienist in 2009. Her naval career spanned sixteen years, serving on various ships and shore based establishments across the globe before leaving the service in 2016. It’s fair to say that Janie has seen the world in all it’s glory!
Janie enjoys giving preventative dental health advice and seeing the benefits that this brings to our patients. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, skiing, paddle-boarding and spending time with her family and young son, Bobby. Most of all, she likes taking off on adventures in her camper van visiting the Cornish coast whenever possible to explore those beautiful surroundings.
Laura is one of our valued dental nurses and works alongside Lauren & Frankie, helping add strength and depth to our superb nursing team.
Laura is also completing a ‘Oral Health Educator’ course, helping enhance her skill set and enable her to offer more in depth oral health advice to our patients.
She enjoys socialising with her friends and jetting off on sunny holidays as often as possible in her spare time, along with walking her dog Dumbo and organising the work social events.
Lauren joined the team bringing with her 12 years of dental nursing experience and has worked in various dental practices across Devon in that time. Lauren has a desire to ensure that you have an exceptional experience whilst in the care of the Hartley Dental team.
In her spare time Lauren enjoys reading, walking and sampling cuisines from across the world.
Frankie has joined the team to further enhance our levels of expertise and nursing excellence. She brings with her 4 years of dental nursing experience, having worked for another practice in Plymouth during that time. Frankie is incredibly organised and brings superb time management skills to the nursing team, further adding to the smooth experience our patients have when visiting the practice.
Frankie takes the lead with helping Aleks deliver dental implant treatments and also deputises as Deputy Lead Nurse, meaning when Lauren is off Frankie takes the helm!
In her spare time Frankie loves socialising with friends and enjoying the beautiful Plymouth coast line.
Iris joins us from August 2025 as a Trainee Nurse and is looking forward to learning all things Dental Nursing from Lauren, Frankie and Laura!
Iris previously completed work experience with us in 2024, whilst doing her A Levels and is passionate about developing a career in Dentistry.
We are looking forward to helping Iris treat you the right way!
Karen joined the team in February 2024, to further add to the effectiveness of our front of house team. Karen has lots of customer service & dental experience and is a real asset to the team. In her spare time, Karen enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying the various activities available in Britains Ocean City!
Karen also takes the lead of organising our community based & charity events, making sure we give something back to the communities of Plymouth and the surrounding areas.
